Sovereign Opal is a unique and one of a kind grape that's rarely available outside of Sandhill. A hybrid grape that is a cross pollination of Golden Muscat and Marechal Foch, this grape loves our cool winters and warm summers.
Clear and bright with a fresh, clean aroma of peach, pink grapefruit, gooseberry, fresh cut flowers, and a touch of site-specific minerality. This light-bodied Sovereign Opal has the perfect balance of natural sweetness and acidity, along with flavours of tropical fruit, melon, and gooseberry.

GROWING CONDITIONS – 2023 SEASON
The highly anticipated 2023 growing season began amidst a frigid winter, with temperatures plummeting to -30 degrees Celsius. Despite the cold start, the Okanagan region experienced nearly normal spring and early summer conditions, followed by a hot and dry August, which led to an early harvest. This early vintage suggests exceptional quality.
VINIFICATION
Once the grapes have arrived at the winery, they are gently pressed, allowing the juice to be separated from the skins. The juice is then fermented with a yeast selected to enhance the floral characters. Winemaker, Sydney Valentino, “my goal is to promote a lot of peach character in the aroma and flavour profile. We achieve that by picking at exactly the right time and controlling the fermentation temperature to retain that character.”
THE GRAPE
Sovereign Opal is a hybrid grape that is a cross pollination of Golden Muscat and Marechal Foch. They are thin skinned, large clustered, relatively loose bunches with a pinky green colour at maturity.
