Sandhill Syrah 2022 VQA

WINEMAKING
Harvested from Sandhill Estate and Hidden Terrace vineyards in the Okanagan Valley, and Vanessa Vineyard in the Similkameen Valley. The Syrah grapes were given a loose crush and gentle but complete extraction of the fruit. A warm fermentation with daily pump overs to fully submerge the cap and achieve the deep, dark colour and tannin structure. A full malolactic fermentation to soften and round out the mouthfeel. Aged 12 months in (60%) American and (40%) French oak barrels.

FLAVOUR PROFILE
Purple garnet colour with a lovely bouquet of dark plum, blueberry, and blackberry, accented by notes of spice box, smoky oak, and vanilla extract. This is an extra dry, full-bodied wine with soft tannins and a juicy, round mouthfeel. Flavours of ripe dark fruits mingle with chocolate, oak, and sweet vanilla. The lingering finish shows notes of blueberry, blackberry, blue plum, violet, and a touch of roasted coffee bean and fresh herbs.
